Mechanical Engineer

Twence is looking for a Mechanical Engineer for its Carbon Capture and Utilization project. This project will be a brown field project in the sense that a new installation will be added to existing production facility.

Twence is looking for a Mechanical Engineer for its Carbon Capture and Utilization project.
This project will be a brown field project in the sense that a new installation will be added to existing production facility. Twence recently received a government grant for the project and had previously already obtained the relevant permits and selected the contractors for the project. We are looking for:

  • > Medior (5 year+)

  • Experience in working as mechanical engineer in industrial projects (e.g. WtE, process

  • industry etc.) experience with cryogenic and compression equipment is a bonus

  • Preferred knowledge areas: Constructive mechanical (pipe bridges, piping, material choice)

  • Experience in complex, large scale international construction projects with various subcontractors, disciplines and responsibilities.

  • Quality Control expertise: Checking suppliers, mechanical complete, FAT, SAT. etc

  • A Teamplayer: you will work together and support the Twence Mechanical Engineer

  • You are fluent in English and Dutch

  • Workload: 24 h/week, but due to the nature of the work it is expected there will be weeks with more hours and some weeks with less. 24h/week is an average.

The mechanical engineer will work in the “blue team” and will support the Twence Mechanical Engineer. It is also possible the candidate will be asked to work not only for the CCU project, but assist in other Mechanical Engineering work at Twence.

Activities & responsibilities:

During the Detailed Engineering phase check/control/review/comment on technical deliverables (documentation/drawings) from contractors from a Mechanical Engineering perspective. You will have to ensure that what is going to be build complies with our

requirements, is also fit for purpose and according to good engineering practice. (note: your work will be limited to reviewing, commenting, checking the documentation from contractors and giving our “approval” to the work of others, we ourselves will not be designing and engineering).

During the build phase (on- and offsite) visit, witness, check and control that what is being build/fabricated is according to our specifications. Note that the formal witness moments e.g. FAT, SAT, Mechanical Complete etc. will be planned in advance. A pro-active attitude and natural curiousity is requested besides of these formal moments.

  • Create “punch lists” during relevant formal witness/review moments (e.g. mechanical complete) and ensure the follow up on the actions
  • Support, advice the Twence Mechanical Engineer, Technical Lead and/or other persons within the Twence Project team with your technical expertise, e.g. when reviewing/evaluating RFC’s, resolving issues, etc.
  • Participate in HAZOP, RIE, PED, management of change etc. and follow up on outcome and actions.

  • Participate in project control meetings, follow up on actions, identify/signal issues and communicate them with Projectmanagement.

  • Review, evaluate and if needed coordinate actions during Commissioning phase

  • Act as liaison between project team and operations department (e.g. answer questions, give insight, explain etc.).
